Leadership Tips

Be a leader-WITHOUT a title!

You do not have to be the president or serve on an executive board to be considered a leader. Being a leader means making a DIFFERENCE!

Lead by Example

It’s the Holidays!

I usually spend my holidays adding a bunch of gifts to my wish list and plan never-ending Christmas parties with my friends but is that what the holidays are really about?

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in all of the fun and sparkly things that we sometimes forget what the true meaning of Christmas is!

Working in the office of Student Affairs on campus, I have realized that not everyone is as fortunate to spend their holidays doing so.

There are so many ways that you can lead through example this holiday by participating in Student Affairs Cares. One of the ways that we lead by example in this office is by volunteering at the Good Samaritan Food Bank and coordinating Mom’s Pantry on campus.

Mom’s Pantry:

If you have some non-perishable items in your pantry, make sure to stop by and drop it off to Mom’s pantry! There are three locations on campus to drop off donations, Picciola hall, the Student Union, and the Recreation Center.

The pantry is open 24/7, so if you would also like a snack or two, make sure to check it out!

If you need to contact the pantry, this is the info:

Good Samaritan Food Bank:

At the Food Bank, you can help by unpacking donations, writing the expiration dates on the goods, or getting the food and supplies together, bagging it, and helping load the cars.

If you are not in Thibodaux for the holidays, check out to see if your town has a local food bank!

Here are all of the details for the Good Samaritan Food Bank in Thibodaux:

How else can I give back to the community?

Another way to give back this holiday is rounding up friends and doing a toy drive or clothes drive.

There are numerous places in the area that you can donate old sweaters, jackets, shoes, and toys as well!

Here are some great local places to donate to:

  • The Salvation Army
  • A local Church
  • Good Will
  • Gym Dandy

Lead by Service

Cari Allums is a leader for all. Her involvement with Bridge to Independence has created so many bonds between Delta Zeta and the Bridge to Independence students.

Keep on #Leading, Cari!

Below is an infographic based on service hours from the Greek Community at Nicholls State University.

This infographic represents how one person can impact an organization, and how greek life as a whole, can impact an entire campus!

Lead By Academics

Victoria Bourgeois is a leader by her contagious passion for academics. She is a great supporter and role model for students, or anyone that needs a boost of motivation.

Keep on #Leading, Victoria!

Lead By Creativity

I have found that being a leader truly means being yourself. I love to find a creative look into every project that I do and making costumes help get peers excited for events. Here is a glimpse of some of my past costumes!

#keepLeading

I hope that these examples have given you a new look on #Leadership!

ONE MORE THING!

Although the holidays are about giving but don’t forget about YOU!

Being involved is very strenuous and tiring, make sure to get your rest, unplug for a little bit and spend this precious time with the ones you love.
