Colonel Pride: A Lifestyle
My Delta Zeta Sister. My Nicholls Mom. My Best Friend. She pushes me to be better every day. She is the person who inspired my blog topic. She is Mrs. Amanda Enclade Fremin.
Mrs. Amanda has been at Nicholls since her first semester as an undergraduate in 1991, so she knows the campus pretty well. After receiving her MBA, she was hired in Financial Aid as the Assistant Director. Now she serves as the Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs.
She met her husband, Donovan Fremin, here at Nicholls and has been married to him for 20 years. Together they have two children, Finley and Declan.
After graduating from Ursaline Academy, Mrs. Amanda wanted the full college experience. She chose Nicholls because it wasn’t too close to home but it also wasn’t too far from home. She was sold on Nicholls after taking her first campus tour, which who can blame her, IT’S GORGEOUS! After rushing, Mrs. Amanda pledged Delta Zeta. She then dove into leadership roles becoming an orientation leader, joining peer assistance, and SPA’s Entertainment Committee. She also held the positions of a guard, Risk Management, Vice President of Recruitment, and President in Delta Zeta. After graduating, she was Delta Zeta’s head adviser, and now holds the position of Faculty Advisor.
Today, with her position in Student Affairs, Mrs. Amanda is able to leap into community service work like creating Student Affairs Cares, along with Ms. Carly Clark, the Student Activities Coordinator.
Student Affairs Cares involves the Nicholls community to volunteer at the Good Samaritan Food Bank and the St. Francis Gardens at least twice a semester. Mrs. Amanda is also involved with Nicholls Day of Service co-chairing with Ms. Sabrina Laurent, Director of Student Engagement.
Mrs. Colette Lagarde, Nicholls budget officer, stated that Mrs. Amanda “possesses all of the key qualities of a leader: intelligence, skill, commitment, focus, and drive”.
Mrs. Amanda also gives back to the community by being a member of the BCA Booster Club, being a St. Joseph Mentor for the Youth Formation, formally known as CCD classes and was very involved in the service league prior to having her two children.
She is also involved in helping campaign for her husband, Donovan Fremin’s election for State Representative. Mr. Donovan said that “not only has Amanda been his biggest supporter, but she continues to assist and fill any need during the campaign”.
Mrs. Amanda’s proudest moment during her time at Nicholls was receiving the Presidential Award for Professional Staff at Nicholls and being the 2018 Employee of the Year for the Lafourche Chambers.
A message from Mrs. Amanda:
Thank you, Mrs. Amanda, for everything that you have done for me, our Delta Zeta Chapter, the community, and our Nicholls Family.
